How is our Knitwear made

Each knitwear piece is a testament to our commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and timeless design. Our creative process is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, ensuring that every garment not only meets expectations but exceeds them.

Ideation & Inspiration

At Hey Rosie, inspiration comes from many sources—knitting traditions, everyday experiences, and conversations with our community. We interpret these influences through our design philosophy to create knits that feel modern yet timeless.

Listening is an essential part of our process. We hear a desire for knitwear that lasts, for truly high-quality pieces that feel attainable, and for a wider, more joyful spectrum of color. These insights, combined with our own creative research, help us transform ideas into thoughtfully designed pieces that meet real needs without compromising beauty.

This balance of creativity, craftsmanship, and dialogue allows us to create modern classics—garments that feel relevant today and remain reliable companions for years to come.

Material Selection

The journey begins with choosing the right yarn. Every detail matters—from the stitch structure to the desired weight and drape of the garment.

We work with trusted yarns that we know and love, carefully tested for quality and performance. In addition, we are constantly exploring new materials from respected spinners, building long-term partnerships based on trust, responsibility, and shared dedication to excellence.

Design & Fit

From the very beginning, we use 3D technology to visualize our ideas. This allows us to test and refine designs digitally, avoiding unnecessary waste of precious yarn and time.

Digital prototypes enable us to:

  • Clarify details and proportions

  • Check fit and volume

  • Refine placement of design elements

  • Experiment with color options before ordering yarn

Once the design is finalized, we move on to physical samples. At this stage, we collaborate closely with skilled technicians who bring our creative vision to beautifully crafted garments.

Typically, our process includes:

  • Proto sample– for fine-tuning fit and details

  • Pre-production sample – the final version, ready for production

Knitting & Production

Each garment is knitted fully to shape, meaning it is knit in panels to the desired size rather than cut from finished fabric. This reduces waste and ensures a precisely fitting result.

Panels are carefully assembled and finished—this traditional technique enhances durability and gives each piece a flawless finish.

Finishing

Finally, every garment is washed and steamed to enhance softness, drape, and longevity.

Each piece undergoes thorough quality inspection to ensure it meets our high standards before reaching you—ready to wear, love, and cherish for years to come.
